Republic of Turkey Ministry of Trade – Directorate General for Product Safety and Inspection & TURKLAB Consumer Products Laboratories Committee Meeting
Representatives of the Consumer Products Laboratories Committee met with officials from the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Trade – Directorate General for Product Safety and Inspection via remote connection on February 23, 2022.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director General Mr. Ahmet Karabay, Department Head Ms. Sanem Yumurtacı, and Ms. Leyla Uzun Kavşut from the Directorate General for Product Safety and Inspection, while the Consumer Products Laboratories Committee was represented by Berrin Hatacıkoglu, Neslihan Sözer, Zeynep Akın, Duygu Öztürk, Hasan Değer, Nihat Öztürk, and Özkan Yıldırım.
During the meeting, detailed information was provided on the objectives, goals, and activities of TURKLAB and the Consumer Products Laboratories Committee.
Discussions were held regarding the work of conformity assessment bodies in product safety inspections and their potential contributions to the process.
In response to the committee's petition dated December 14, 2021, which led to this meeting, the members' requests and the sector's key issues were conveyed to the Ministry officials.
An exchange of views took place on the necessity of price adjustments in the laboratories' current pricing lists and the need to establish a methodology for these adjustments.
As a result of the meeting, it was agreed that the Ministry would conduct a study based on the draft proposal prepared by the committee to determine an appropriate price increase. Additionally, it was decided to strengthen relations with TURKLAB and organize technical meetings on product safety.
